What Causes Upper Right Abdominal Pain And Upper Back Pain?

Question : Hi there,
Within the last few month's I have been experiencing some unusual pain in my upper right abdomen and it goes all the way to my upper back. It happens after i eat any oily food. They are like seizures its happened 4 time and manifests in the same manner, lasts no longer than 24 hours and the pain is horrible. There is no position that is comfortable it hurts to stand, sit and lay down. My last episode was yesterday and i had a restless night due to the pain and was feverish with nausea . recently I am being investigated for autoimmune disease due to a positive ANA and symptoms.
not to sure if next time it happens i should go to the hospital. I don't want to waste anyone's time.

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that the kind of pain that you are describing can be because of gastritis , pancreatitis etc. Since you are being evaluated for an autoimmune disease it becomes more important to know the cause . Even lupus can give rise to all these complaints .
A USG abdomen , serum amylase , serum lipase should be done at least . Next time you get the pain you should see a doctor because examination at that time will be very important in determining the cause and thus guide further evaluation.
