Brief Answer:
Probably side efeects of treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
How are you? My name is Dr Suresh Raghavaiah. I am a Surgical Gastroenterologist and I hope to answer your question today.
I am glad that the typhoid fever was caught in time and is being treated adequately. The infection itself can cause nausea and loose stools. Also since the infection causes fever, this in turn affects the appetite and causes the patient to lose interest in food. Since you have already mentioned that the fever has completely subsided, it means that the infection is getting treated adequately. i am sure he is getting Intra-venous antibiotics for the treatment. The most common side effect of antibiotics is nausea and vomitting. So as long as this is not accompanied by fever, I would not worry about it. Pleas ask the doctor to prescribe some anti-emetic (Ondansetron, etc) to control the nausea. Also an antacid will be required (pantoprazole, omeprazole etc) which will prevent the gastritis due to not eating adequate food.

Hope this helps and hope your son starts to feel better.

Brief Answer:
Platelet count worrisome

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Sorry for the delay in replying, but a platelet count of 67000 is definitely worrisome. But unless the count is less than 40000 doctors usually do not worry about it. But given that the titers are still high (1:160), I would think that he will need IV antibiotics. Please do consult a physician and make sure he knows about the platelet counts.

Hope this helps and hope your son starts to feel better.

Dear Sir,

Admiited my son in hospital and treatment started.
During the test, Dengue also detected. Yesterday evening platlets were 55k, today morning were 40k.

They say since there is no fever, hence Dengue is only under observation. But IV antibiotic is on for typhoid.
