Brief Answer: Multivitamin supplements will be beneficial Detailed Answer: Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE-MAGIC Namasthe Dear Mr XXXXXXX When anti tuberculosis treatment is started there may be initial weight loss. It's due to drug induced gastritis and loss of appetite which reduces the intake of food and causes weight loss. Once the tuberculosis infection is taken care by anti tuberculosis treatment there will be improvement in appetite. Burning sensation in body is likely to be due to side effect of Isoniazid. Taking Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6 ) will be beneficial. I would like to know further details from your Mr XXXXXXX 1. What was the indication for removal of spleen? 2. Is your appetite good? 3.Do you have nausea or vomiting 4. Fever? 5.It would be very helpful if you could provide me details of sequence of event leading to splenectomy and post operative course. In the mean time I would suggest you the following which will definitely help 1. Small quantity frequent meals: instead of consuming 3 large meals , eat small quantity frequently 2. Multivitamin supplements will be helpful 3. Syrup Aristozyme 5 ml thrice a day will improve your appetite 4. Get Thyroid profile done: Excess Thyroid hormone levels can also have such manifestation. 5. Consume plenty of water : 2 to 3 liter per day 6. High fiber diet Do get back to me Take care Best Regards Dr Deepak Kishore MBBS, MS, MCH Consultant Surgeon
