What Do My HIV Test Results Indicate?

I have done unprotected sex on 14th XXXXXXX 2015 and 16th Feb, 2015 and on 2nd March,2015 I have done HIV 1 RNA Qualitative test (sample type EDTA Plasma Blood) and HIV 2 real time PCR (sample type EDTA Plasma Blood). Both the results are negative and on 15th March, 2015 I did an HIV 1 and 2 + p.24 Ag (method CMIA) which was also negative.
Now I am getting married on 9th April, 2015. Can I have sex with her or do I need to wait. What kind of tests I need to do now.Any tests after 3/6 months. I am really worried, kindly advise me. Thank you

Hi XXXXXXX
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic.
I have gone through the details.
The chances of HIV transmission by unprotected vaginal intercourse with HIV positive person is 1/200 to 1/1000. It is very low. She may be negative too.
HIV RNA PCR for both HIV 1 & 2 is negative after 10 days is >99.9 % sensitive. So it is negative.
Further even combo test with p24 antigen test is negative too.
I would rate this as conclusive and you are free from HIV from the 2 exposures mentioned.
You can lead a normal life .
You can get back for any clarification.

Thank you for your message.
I checked with another doctor earlier on this and he suggested me to go for further tests. I was very much confused. would please see his reply below and give me a consult on how to proceed. thank you for your time.

Hello,
RNA PCR becomes positive within 2-3 weeks. Though, an accuracy of this test is very high. You need confirmatory test after 6 weeks using antibody tests like ELISA and Western blot.
If we consider that your last exposure was on 16 Feb. You should take the test between and/or after 14 to 21 days. You have already done those on 15 th March. It was negative. That means you are most likely don't have HIV virus in your body. In less than one percentage cases, there is a theoretical possibility of false negative test which is very minimal. Still, I advise you to confirm the results at or after 6 weeks ( 30 th of March ) by ELISA method and at 3-4 months (May 16 th) by Western blot antibody method.
Till then postponing marriage or avoiding sex would be good for her health and would make you a responsible partner.
HIV unlikely.

Hi XXXXXXX
Thank you for follow up query.
Yes there are two school of thoughts in this regard. Whether to repeat tests again to be conclusive.
Now the tests are more accurate. There is no possibility of you getting positive results after 12 weeks.
RNA PCR is accurate after 10 days.Combo after 28 days. Both have come negative.
You can take a decision in this regard.
If still anxious,You can use condoms till 3 months period is over if you desire.Take test be done with it .
You can get back for any clarification.

Thank you for your message.
It really helps.
Do you suggest any tests I need to take now, to rule out completely.
I think it will be very difficult to wait for another 45 days.

XXXX

Thank you for follow up query and compliments.
If it is helping you we are very pleased and happy.
There is no use of repeating any of these tests again till 3 months as it will be negative. You will still go on worrying about 3 months conclusive tests.Unnecessarily it may add to your anxiety.
You can get back for any clarification else please close the discussion and rate.
Thank you
