Question : Recently tested for hsv 1 and 2
Igg results for hsv 1 were 46.5. No XXXXXXX there as I have been getting cold sores since I was a kid.
Igg results for hsv 2 were 1.44. This concerns me.
Igm results were negative.
What does this mean? Do I Have hsv 2? Or could this be a false positive?

Brief Answer:
IgG indicates previous exposures

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. These raised igG titres are indicative of previous exposures of herpes and does not mean you have an acute illness. Had igM been positive we would have considered your for acute illness or HSV at presence but its not. PS this antibody titre is not a preferable test to sort out the HSV of acute illness or remote exposure. You will need a PCR for HSV to rule that out.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

If I were exposed to it in the past does that mean I can spread it?

Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
IgG is bodys antbiody against the virus and not the virus. so its presence highlights your defence against the HSV and does not mean you will transmit. In order for it to transmit you need active infection. Previous exposures are cured and cant transmit.
I hope it helps.
