Question : Hello Dr!

I usually do a preventive annual check up every year.

Last year, all my results were normal except a mild elevation in SGPT and my absolute lymphocytes were 4.05 * 10^3. (Normal range was 1-3)

My doctor told that it is nothing to worry & since I am having sertraline 50 mg (for panic attacks), which could increase the SGPT a bit.

This time all the results are normal except the below:

1. Lipase -64 (Normal range is 13-60)
2. HbA1c - 5.9% with average blood glucose (calculated) - 123 - [Last time it was 5.7% and average blood glucose was 114]
3. Lymphocytes (absolute ) - 3.56 (normal 1-3)
4. Wbc - 8.62 (within normal range)
5. Neutrophils 53.4 (normal 40-80).

I recently had a viral fever/throat infection couple of weeks back & had Augmentin 625 for 3 days.

Are the above values a cause of concern & do I need any further work up?

Thanks in advance!

Brief Answer:
Hello Dear. Vit D levels are low.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the reports. A minor up an down beyond the normal range is acceptable and all your reports are normal. However your vitamin D levels are very low.
You need to supplement yourself with vitamin D preparation once a week for 8 weeks. You can get a prescription from any of the general physician.
Also you need not get your tests repeated without any reason. Only blood sugar level needs to be checked once in 5 years.
Thanks and regards

Thank you very much doctor for your re-assurance!

Since i had abdominal discomfort quite regularly & doctors have told it may be due to gastritis, got a bit scared with the 'lipase' reading, fearing it could be any problem with my pancreas. And, is Pancreatitis or pancreatic cancer rare for my age group? [I am a tee totaller, but eat non-veg quite often]

2. I feel fatigued and tired most of the time. Is it because of vitamin D deficiency (or) my anti-anxiety medicine Sertraline ?

3. Lastly, my HbA1c have gradually rised over the last couple of years from 5.6 to 5.7 to 5.9 now. Hope i am not in pre-diabetes stage and don't require any further follow up.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Hello. Keep relax. You are allright.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. It is not pancreatitis. We diagnose pancreatitis with lipase being atleast 3 times of normal upper limit along with typical clinical presentation of severe onset pain abdomen.
Fatigue can be related to vit D deficiency and sertraline too.
Yes HbAic is an area of concern thats why i asked you to get it checked frequently.
Also you must do exercises daily to keep yourself free from lifestyle diseases.
Thanks and regards
