Question : starting 3 days ago I started with a mild temperature and it peaked last night at 103. Presently it is normal. I have no other normal fever symptoms such as runny nose, chest congestion, sore throat or anything like that. What I DO have is a thick mucus anal discharge... which also seems to be subsiding this morning. Can you help advise me as to what possible things might be wrong with me. I am concerned that if the symptoms regress that I still have some underlying issue that is not undisclosed and not corrected. HISTORY: I had stage 2 anal cancer 2 yrs ago with 28 rounds of radiation and 2 chemotherapy treatments (no surgery). I have regular CTs and oncology visits. As of 3 months ago I am still cancer free

thanks for your help

Brief Answer:
Needs clinical evaluation and investigations to get the root cause

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/63 - Stage 2 anal cancer 2 years ago - 28 rounds of radiation and 2 Chemo - no surgery - on regular CT and Oncology visits - as of 3 months ago - cancer free - mild temp for 3 days that peaked last night at 103 - presently normal - no symptoms other than thick anal mucus discharge - which also seems to be subsiding - concerned that if the symptoms regress, undisclosed issued might not get corrected - tried Aleve and Aspirin ...
I can understand your concerns very well, but in the presence of only one symptoms of thick anal discharge, I can think of colonic infection as the probable cause.
Another causes can be urinary tract infection, or a close cavity infection.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Tests of blood, urine and stool.
Ultrasound of the abdomen
X-ray of the chest.
Clinical evaluation and examination by a Doctor to see for any signs and to correlate with the investigations to get a probable cause and treat accordingly.
Aspiring per say is not to be taken other than heart related problems.
Aleve can be continues whenever necessary.

Please get the above mentioned investigations to get a probable cause and get treated accordingly. Further tests and treatment as required.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication and also give feedback about the results of investigations.
