Brief Answer:
dialated renal pelvis

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Mild pelviectasis of the left kidney means that there is dilation of the renal pelvis, indicating hydronephrosis due to some blockade downstream, e.g stones, stricture, growth , obstruction.

Echogenecity of the kidney normally is less than that of liver but, even if hyperechoic it is a non specific finding and doesn't correlate with disease pattern. Size of the kidneys is more important w.r.t Chronic Kidney disease.

Please consult your doctor before deciding on any further course of action.

Let me know if there is any query.

wishing you best of health

Please interpret the following for me: " Right kidney measures approximately 9.1 x 4.4 x 4.0 and the left kidney also approximately measures 9.4 x 3.1 x 3.8. There is suggestion of some mild pelviectasis of the left kidney. Kidneys are echogenic. There is no evidence of renal stones." Also, how concerned should I be?

Brief Answer:
Kidney sizes are within normal range

Detailed Answer:
hello again,

The kidney sizes are within normal range. In Chronic Kidney disease , the kidneys are shrunken and well below this range. I explained the pelviectasis and echogenicity in my previous answer, i.e the former indicating flow obstruction and the latter having no clinical significance.

You should get RFTs ( Renal function tests) including Urea and Creatinine done. Electrolytes and Urinalysis should also be performed. A CT scan of the Kidneys, Ureters and Bladder may also be a good idea after consulting your doctor.

If they don't show any significant abnormalities then you may relax.

Please consult your doctor before deciding on any further course of action.

Thanks.
