Question : Clear discharge from penis but no burning during urination. Been swab tested and the results came back negative. What could the problem be?

                                    Hi there,
Thanks for the query.
If the discharge is clear,no burning,no itching,no foul odour and the swab test is negative for chlamydia, gonorrhea etc then its mostly the normal discharge. It seen in all men. There might be some inflammation of the urethra causing a non specific urethritis. Most cases reduce on its own and dont require treatment. Some people need antibiotics for a few days. But most important is keeping good hygiene, avoid unprotected sex,was with a antiseptic solution and after sex and urination.
If you develop burning, itching etc then you definitely need antibiotics.
As for now, just keep clean and avoid unprotected sex and see if the the discharge reduces.Small amount if discharge is normal.
Regards,

How long does this normally last?

                                    Hi,
Clear discharge if, its normal, can occur on and off. Keep good hygiene, avoid unprotected sex, wash with antiseptic soap after sex and urination. Watch for a week. It should reduce in a week. If not, then you will probably need antibiotics. If any time there is burning, see your doctor immediately.
Regards,

                                    Hi and thanks again.
It seems to be urethritis as i have mentioned before.
My suggestions are given above.
1 Abstain from sex else use condoms.
2. Sit in a tub of hot water for a few mins each day.
3. Wash after sexual intercourse / urination preferably with soap.
4. Drink plenty of water.
If you haven't been tested for chlamydia. then kindly get tested for it.
Wish you good health
Regards
