Question: We have given DPTB2 to our 5 years girl child on 12.05.15. There after she was suffering from high grade fever upto 102.5 F. At that time we gave her paracetamol and fever goes down slowly for 4-5hours & again came back. Please suggest what should we do.

Brief Answer:
it will settle in a few days

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
DTP vaccine is known to cause fever. This may last even upto 4 or 5 days.
Don't worry. Continue paracetamol every 4 hours.
I am sure the fever will settle down in a few days.
If fever doesn't settle then consult your doctor again to rule out other sources of fever like infections.
Ensure she drinks plenty of liquids to keep hydrated.
Wishing your child good health.
Regards
Dr Arun
