my mother age 59 yrs is suffering from spondylitus. she is undergoing physiotherapy. presently she is going through enormous pain in her shoulders and neck and sometimes not able to move neck properly. her MRI reports are enclosed.
kindly suggest the effective treatment for above condition.

Age related cervical radiculopathy occurs due to nerve compression.
Physiotherapy is an important component of management.
Isometric neck exercises are advised.
Pain killers and muscle relaxant like etoricoxib or aceclofenac with tizanidine or thiocholchicoside can be used.
Pregabalin, gabapentin or amitriptyline can also be added.

MRI report is suggestive of age-related degenerative changes.
Disc is also compressing nerve root at c4-5 level.
At present, physiotherapy and medications as advised should be continued.
Surgical intervention is required if pain is not responsive to medications or a neurodeficit occurs due to disease progression.
