What Does My MRI Scan Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Dec 2015
Question: MRI impression reads single 3mm flair on the left anterior and 5 mm flair on the right frontal lobe of high intensity on the T2 without enhancement, most likely demyelination. My MRI was ordered due to dizziness, memory loss, tingling in right side of extremeties, fatigue, cold hands and headaches. I as well have a sister who has MS. If you could help me with this impression that would be great.

Brief Answer:
Please upload your MRI image/CD.

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

I'll surely try to address your concerns at my best but I need to have a look at your MRI for making a sound impression.
So,please upload your MRI images or preferably, you should upload the MRI CD(as a rar archived file) on google drive and share the link here in the follow-up question.

Further, please tell me the clinical details-
1)Since when you are having these symptoms?
2)Was there a previous episode of similar symptoms?
3)Are the symptoms static or progressive in course?

If possible, please upload your neurological examination case records.

I understand that your sister having MS,increases the risk for you as well.Still, MRI has to be observed for the lesions and clinically correlation is needed.

I shall be looking forward to your follow-up query with your MRI.

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
MD,DM(Neurology)

my memory loss started mildly around 2011. in the last 3-6 months the headaches, which are bilateral above the temporal area seem to be getting worse. the dizziness seems to have just started within the last month and happens when I stand up from a sitting position, squatting position or sometimes when walking, but do not occur during the headaches. the only progressive symptoms I have is the numbness in the extremeties and coldness in hands and memory loss, I as well cannot recite when someone has just told me something. sometimes I find it hard to find the words I am looking for. I have been tested for bppv with no nystagmus in left or right. I am also hypothyroid which I have had to increase my strength of levothyroxine to 250 mcg. increasing this dose more so in the last 2 years. I have no been given images of the mri as of now.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms are not classical for MS.Review with MRI.

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for being in follow-up with further details.

Although, your clinical history is not very typical for MS.Still,It is hard to comment anything without having a look at the MRI.

I suggest you to arrange for the MRI within a few days and continue back with a follow-up question in the same thread, after getting and uploading MRI here.

Further,I need to know a few details-
1)Since when are you having numbness and coldness in extremities?
2)Is it on one side(as you mentioned that tingling is on right side) or both side extremities?
3)You said it is progressive-how much it has progressed over time?Since the time it started?(MS symptoms typically, are relapsing and remitting in nature).

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
MD,DM(Neurology)
