Question: I have on pancreas "ill-defined hypodensity noted along the anterior head " that is "non-specific and could present focal pancreatis. Correlation with lab parameters is recommend. If negative, cannot competely exclude malignancy" what does this mean? I am 60, have enlarged liver and pain and am being treated for pnumomia. Liver steatyosis and mild hepatolomegaly noted also on tests. Lung bibasailar atelectasis noted with lung hernia present. Non emergent MRI recommended for pancreas.

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. it means something which is not sharp.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. Sometimes pancreatitis can accompany pnuemonia either as a result of same proccess which caused pneumonia or due to some drug.
Pancreatitis can present like this picture of ill defined hypodensity on ultrasonography.
I would suggest you to undergo blood test like serum Amylase or lipase to confirm pancreatitis. More over, a CT scan can throw more light on this hypodensity lesion.
If this hypodensity dose not resolves after some time or pain increases or this hypodensity increases in size, then malignancy(tumor) can be ruled out by needle aspiration test from this hypodensity.
Hope it is now clear to you. Right now just wait and watch and undergo the blood test and a CT scan.
Feel free to ask further.
Thanks
