Question: Hi doctor,

Brief - cytomegalovirus antibody IGG & epstein barr VCA-IGG : POSITIVE

CASE: CYTOMEGALOVIRUS IGM : NEGATIVE
FREE FROM ALL OTHER VIRUSES AS WELL, EVEN HIV 1&2 AND VIRUS A, B & C

All labs are normal except : the cmv IGG and epstien barr IGG - doctor said they were past infections

* Mild thrombocytopenia
* Mild normochromic normocytic anemia
* Luecogram shows normal values &morphology

Prescribed : AMANTADINE SULPHATE and Some multivitamins for a month

COMPLAINT : I always feel weak & fatigued and feel vulnerable to cold or flu like symptoms

MEDICAL HISTORY: anxiety, migraines and chronic allergic rhinitis

MEDICATIONS: SERTRALINE 100MG & XANAX .5MG

QUESTION: GUIDANCE AND HELP PLEASE, IM SICK OF FEELING SICK

No need to worry for this. You are not having infection.

No, you are not sick.
In my opinion, you are feeling sick due to uncontrolled stress, anxiety etc.
Your IgG antibodies are raised. IgM antibodies are normal.
This clearly indicates past infection. This does not indicate present infection.
So avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
Consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on its solution.
You may need additional anxiolytic drugs too.

2. Do you smoke?

No i dont smoke and i dont take flu vaccines because they are not safe and they do not cover all flu viruses so its not that useful.

Concerning the amantadine shall I stop it?

How can i stop the frequent colds and boost my energy and immunity?

I can understand your concern.
Your belief about vaccines is wrong.
Vaccines are to produce immunity.
Vaccines use antigens. So when vaccines are given, body produce antibodies against these antigens.
So when actual infection occur, these antibodies immediately kill those antigens.
Recurrent cold is most commonly due to Influenza virus infection. And hence annual vaccination with flu vaccine is indicated on recurrent cold.
Pneumococcal vaccine should be taken every five years. It is to prevent severe forms of respiratory tract infection like pneumonia.
So vaccines are for boosting of immune system.
You can also take multivitamin tablets containing folic acid, vitamin b 12, riboflavin and zinc. Vitamin C and vitamin E are anti oxidants and has supplements of them can also provide good immunity.
High protein diet like pulses, eggs, non vegetarian diet is also good for immunity and energy.
