Should I Continue The Pregnancy In Spite Of Cytomegalovirus?

hi, i am 30 years old, i am staying in china i have one daughter 6years old ,born in china, during the pregnency of 3rd month doctors infomed me i have cmv (Cytomegalovirus),they asked me to abort , but we continued pegnency and now my daughter is well, now we r planing for 2nd child still i have cmv here doctors r saying if u r cmv infected cannot plan for prengnency, even checked in india some doctors says its ok to plan can plan and some says cannot , so pls advice for the same , my recently tested for cmv report are follwing : dated 25-05-2010 IgG 682.800 /IgM1.480 dated 16-08-2005 IgG 233.10Au /ml /IgM 1.692 so pls advice we can plan for 2nd child or not , thanks rgds sheila

Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Positivity of cytomegalovirus IgG antibody is most likely due to old infection of the virus, and if the levels of IgM is low, then definitely the current infection is ruled out.
You can very well plan pregnancy with these reports as CMV IgG are raised because of an older infection , and has no adverse effect on the fetus.
