Brief Answer:
depends on how much time has elapsed since your last alcohol intake.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

Kindly let me know how much time has elapsed since your last drink?

Since both alcohol and xanax are central nervous system depressants, there affect can be additive.
We have to be cautious as you already have compromised respiratory capacity.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Take care.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
its safe to take xanax now.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

As 5-6 hours have elapsed, xanax can be taken because most of the alcohol in body would have been metabolised by now.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask further.

Take care.
Thanks.
