Question : Dr.My son aged 24 yrs had kidney transplant 7-4-15 and for the past 2 weeks he is having cough other things are normal.Today we have done chest x-ray it shows inhomogeneous opacity in left lower zone.pl advice what to do.

Well the x ray finding is suggestive of pneumonia ( infection of the lung )

He needs to be started on Antibiotic therapy. But before that I recommend a test called Sputum culture sensitivity test. Kindly get this test done and revert back with report.

But till you get the reports he can be started on antibiotic like Azithromycin . Kindly get a prescription for this and start him on this medicine.

Can be used.

Hi

Augmentin can be used. See the choice of medicine is mainly based on sputum culture sensitivity test report. But it will take 2-3 days for the report to come.

Till the report comes some antibiotic has to be given. My first choice is Azithromycin but Augmentin also can be used.

Dr. Azithromycin will not effect Kidneys,B'coz Transplant done on 7-4-2015. Please Advice.
