What Does The Following Lungs CT Scan Result Suggest?

default
Posted on Thu, 22 Dec 2016
Question: i just had a ct scan with contrast of my lungs.
once the XXXXXXX was injected, i did feel the warmth etc, that i was expecting, however, my heart rate also went way up.. to about 140. I do have PACs and have been having issues with my heart rate being very slow along with not being able to get a good deep breath. (this is after a surgery about 5 weeks ago, hence the CT scan to rule out clots).. anyway, the heartrate is what worried me. It has now been about 2.75 hours since the scan and my heartrate is down to 92 at rest. Still high for me lately, i have been running sometimes as low as 60 at rest, sometimes my pulse feels very weak, then kicks in strong again, so the time it is takeing to get to a "normal rate is worrison. Is it normal to have the heartrate to up that high from the dye?

Brief Answer:
Yes it can happen due to XXXXXXX injections

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through.

Based on the history you have shared, it can be normal response due to anxiety but possibility of contest allergies should be ruled out as it may also present with palpitations and abnormal heart rythm. It would have been better if you have had ECG right after that as her rate upto 140 can't be taken lightly. It may also happen due to the primary pathology like clots which they are already looking into.

Since you have had history of heart rythm abnormalities so once this all process is done and clot is ruled out, hope fully then consult a cardiologist to discuss for electrophysiological studies. As for that you may need long term management plan including medicine like beta blockers etc to over come those. But since your heart rate is below 100 now, so all you need is to monitor it carefully and if you still feel that rythm is abnormal consult your primary physician to discuss for EKG.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
