Question : My husband recently had an MRI done and the doctor said she noted some bone in the liver, what does that mean?

Dermoid cyst in liver

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Teratoma of Liver/Dermoid cyst in the liver can have bone or remnants of tooth or cartilage with calcification which can appear as bone in liver on MRI scan.
The presence of a cystic lesion in the liver with calcification in the wall of the cyst can also appear as bony resemblance on MRI scan.
Material from the cyst also can form a nidus of stone formation.
