need calcium and iron supplements and control of diabetes and thyroid
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us. I have checked your reports.
Your diabetes is not under controlled. If you are not in treatment of diabetes it should be started or else needs change in treatment. Consultation of MD-medicine doctor is required for the same. You are also on medicines for schizophrenia. Please let me know which drugs are you taking and since when and in which dose as some of the drugs for schizophrenia also affect sugar level in long run.
Your calcium and iron level are low (mild low). you need supplements for the same and doctor can prescribe you when you consult for diabetes.
Your TSH is high means you have hypothyroid likely. If you are on treatment for the same there is need of increasing the dose of thyronorm or it should be started. Again the same doctor whom you will consult for diabetes will treat this problem also.
Your cholesterol is on higher side. You need to change your lifestyle if you living sedentary lifestyle. You need to do regular exercise/walking and control your fat/junk food intake if any.
Other reports are ok and do not need any specific intervention.
Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr. Chintan Solanki.
a. We are not taking any diabetic medicines or thyroid medicines till now. I will book a appointment with a dialectologist.
b. Below are the requested medicines details we are prescribed for schizophrenia.
My mother is suffering from schizophrenia since 2003.
Earlier 2003 to 2004 she was given olanex (max 10mg to 7.5)
Since 2004, we are prescribed below medicines and mg varies periodically after reviewing patient condition,
Morning: 1. ZAPIZ current: 0.25mg (this was varying between .5mg to .25mg)
Evening: 1. TOLAZ current: 2.5mg (this was varying between 10mg to 2.5mg)
Night: 1. ARIP MT 10mg sometimes or SULPITAC 100 to 200 mg
2. ZAPIZ current: 0.25mg (this was varying between .5mg to .25mg)
Kindly advice on the further course of action. Should we continue above medicines?
Thanks in advance!
in schizophrenia medicines should be continued
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for information.
If her diagnosis of schizophrenia is confirmed, it is better to continue medicines for the same in minimum possible dose.
Tolaz(olanzapine) may precipitate or increase the glucose tolerance and so diabetes. It is better to stop tolaz. Stop it gradually by every 4th day reducing half dose.
Zapiz is benzodiazepine and it is given in low dose. It can be continued.
Arip MT and Sulpitac are better medicines and they will not contribute to diabetes. But in long run either of them should be stopped if feasible. Discuss the same with her treating doctor.
Start medicines for diabetes and thyroid as soon as possible.
Feel free to discuss further.
