Brief Answer:
It is very unlikely to pass the medications as such

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM.
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

As your doctor suggested it is very rare to pass the medication as such.

Are you having any other gastric problems like gastritis, passing fat in stools or diarrhoea?
Are you on any other medications like calcium?

If you are not having any of these and still you pass un absorbed medications, it is better that you change the brand of the medication and see. There are different brands available like Carbophage, Glyciphage and Melmet. You can make the change after consulting your doctor.

Most of the time the absorption problems are due to the excipients (chemicals used along with the drug in a tablet) used which is different for different brands. So change the brand will always help.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
