Brief Answer: You can undergo refractive laser surgery - LASIK Detailed Answer: Hello Welcome to Health care magic Iam Dr. Dadapeer K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye. You are having myopia of -6.o dioptres and you are wearing spectacles as of now and you wish to undergo refractive laser surgery to get rid of spectacles. It is a good decision and I welcome the decision. Coming to your questions, Refractive laser surgeries are meant for correction of moderate to high refractive errors. There are various types of refractive surgeries and the most popular ones are lasik with subtypes like customized lasik and intralase lasik. The basic requirements are age more than 21 years, stable refractive error and adequate corneal thickness. Since you are aged more than 21 years you are eligible to undergo surgery. The corneal thickness will be measured by doing orbscan and depending on this your fitness for surgery will be decided by your treating surgeon. If the corneal thickness is not adequate you can go for other refractive surgeries like phakic intraocular lens. Refractive laser surgeries are very safe with proven success rate and the complications are very minimal. The common side effects are dryness of eyes in the immediate postoperative period which can be treated by using lubricating eye drops. Pain in the postoperative period is almost minimal or nil, so no need to worry regarding the success and complications following surgery. Coming to your second question of what could be the cause for weak eyesight? Myopia is a common problem and it is because of abnormal growth of the eye and hereditary and genetic factors play an important role. Excessive near work, watching television have been implicated as some of the causes for myopia in childhood. Coming to your last question to suggest few eye hospitals in delhi, Centre for sight hospital is one of the best in the country for refractive laser surgeries. Hope I have answered your questions and the information is helpful to you. Thank you
