I wish to stress upon the fact that a drug like Clomiphene must be taken under supervision and rightful guidance of a Gynecologist and not at your discretion.
So first take an appointment with your doctor who will ascertain by history and physical examination if you are the right candidate for clomiphene therapy.
I would answer your queries but I strongly recommend that you should not go for self medication with clomiphene as there can be potentially XXXXXXX side effects if not used correctly.
Yes, clomiphene is effective in causing pregnancy provided your infertility is due to ovulation dysfunction alone.
Clomiphene is taken from days 3 through day 7 that is for 5 days in each cycle. So if your periods was on 25th october then its your third day today.
Starting dose of clomipheneis 50mg (1tablet) .
Increasing the dose to two tablets is done only when there was no response in the previous cycle from 1 tablet use.
Ovulation should happen on day 14 to 16.
Intercourse is then done on days 12, 14, 16, and maybe day 18.
Check a blood test on day 22 or 23 to measure your progesterone. Progesterone elevation indicates successful ovulation.
If you ovulate and reach day 30 of the cycle, CHECK A PREGNANCY TEST. If negative recheck in 4 to 5 days.
Thus the procedure is as follows:
Day 1: 1st day of period
Day 3: start clomiphene for 5 days.
Day 12, 14, 16, 18: Sexual intercourse is advised. A “mid cycle ultrasound" can be done to check for ovulation.
Day 22 or 23: Check progesterone blood test.
Day 30: if no period, do a pregnancy test.
Urine Pregnancy test comes positive as early as 12-19 days after ovulation which means it can test positive earliest on the first day of your missed period.
Blood pregnancy test comes positive even earlier after 7-10 days of ovulation.
