Question : I have scoliosis, at a an angle 7 degrees beyond than what my spinal deformity specialist says is operable. He said he'd like to fuse T9- S4 using rods and screws. I am wondering if I also should see a neurologist. My cervical vertebra are an issue as well, and I want to know if one doctor could handle both surgeries at the same time. This specialist is Dr XXXXXXX Harback in XXXXXXX 2 hours from my home.
Brief Answer:
A second opinion is a good idea
Detailed Answer:
Hello there, thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. I see the surgery that is planned, and given your diagnosis, I would strongly suggest you get a second opinion from your local neurosurgeon. They will be able to give you another view of what needs to be done to manage your scoliosis. A neurologist would not really be able to help you here.
Hope this helps.
