Question : is it normal to have only propofol without an analgesic for a colonoscopy
I'm just trying to understand the anesthesia record. Under Anesthesia, GEN was circled rather than MAC. I did have an anesthesiologist in the room monitoring me. But GEN means out doesn't it? Airway is NC which I get, but eye care with a T written in and circled I don't get. Also there are some codes that are listed under the standard graph, which line up with the 5 minute intervals. I guess these codes equal 15 minutes then. One of the codes is vent and in the second 15 minute box there is the number 8.

                                    Brief Answer:
some things I can guess and some I cannot.
Detailed Answer:
Gen must mean general meaning out. NC for nasal canula, VENT is with a ventilator. The 8 could mean the breathing rate or that it was only for 8 minutes or a cirlicue meaning Yes, there was ongoing ventilation. The codes would mainly to say, standard procedures without complications or vss for vital signs stable. the circled t might just be a fancy check mark to say it was attended to.
THere does NOT seem to be much outside of very standard care though in any case.

Yes standard of care was very good. Just wish to understand process since I was indeed out. I have one more question, what does spontaneous ventilation mean? Was I breathing on my own, or is that reference to some kind of intervention? The circled T was tape on the eyes.

                                    Brief Answer:
I know this one.
Detailed Answer:
Yes, spontaneous ventilation means breathing on one's own. It is still very closely monitored continuously. There is measurement of the oxygen level (and lately measurement of the carbon dioxide level) there is measurement of the breathing rate and other vital signs.

the website notices if someone sends us a comment. any comment and we don't respond to it. (which is always a bit rude, of us if we don't since you've no way to know if we got a message). So, it's fine if you don't respond to this message and not fine if we don't respond.
