1 Month Old Has Fever, Vomiting, Is Cranky. What To Do ?
I have a 1 month old baby. He weighed 4lb 15oz at birth. Now weighs 6lb 10oz. He had NO health issues whatsoever at birth. He has had a fever for a couple of days. I took him to his doctor yesterday. They did a chest x-ray and drew blood. I have not heard anything from them. I have been researching today and read about RSV and I am really concerned. He has a fever and is VERY cranky. His fever is averaging around 99.3. He also has been vomiting (A little more than what I consider spit-up). I do not know what to do. Please help!!!
In view of the age group of your baby you should take him back to the doctor. Self medication should not be tried in that age group. Persisting vomiting is a danger sign and if there are continuous vomiting then take him to the ER.
Your doctor may order investigations like CRP, CBC, Blood culture etc to rule out sepsis. Antibiotics may be started depending on the investigation reports.
Continue to ask further queries as required. Hope this helps. Take care. Dr Y V Siva Sankara Murty M.D.(Pediatrics) Associate Professor of Pediatrics
