1 Year Old With Stomach Ache. Can I Give Peptobismol?

my 1 year old son has been sick for 2 days. It seems as if he has a stomach ache. He's been drinking fluids, not much but I've giving him different juices and water to keep him interested so that he doesn't get dehydrated. He just doesn't eat much at all and what little he does eat he'll throw up soon after. I was curious if pepto bismo would be safe to give to my son to ease his stomach a little. If not, is there anything I can use to help him out?

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

A diagnosis should first be arrived before we can start of any treatment.

First of all where in the abdomen is this pain. Where does he point to?

There are so many organs in the abdomen like liver, pancreas, urinary bladder, kidneys, intestines. Involvement of any one of those organs can cause pain abdomen. Some times even physical examination is not sufficient to start on treatment and investigations are required.

So I request you to not to self medicate the child and show to a doctor.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
