11 Month Baby, Not Eating Or Sleeping, Diarrhea, Rash On Body. What Could Be This?
My 11-month old seems to be sick. He hasn't been eating or sleeping well, he's been extremely fussy, he's had a little bit of diarrhea, and he has a rash on his neck, back, stomach, and bottom. I don't think he has a fever. What could this be? My mother-in-law said that happens with teething, but that doesn't seem right. What could it be?
Hi
For such a situation, I would strongly recommend your baby to be examined by a pediatrician. From the story narrated it is pretty tough to be conclusive on the diagnosis of your baby. It could range from a mild viral illness to a start of a gastro-enteritis. In the meanwhile the best you could is to continue breast feeding and see that the peri-anal region is kept dry as much as poccible to avoid skin excoriation whioch could add to the fussiness of your baby.
Thanks
There are few danger signs that are to be observed in a sick baby. If the danger signs are present baby should be taken to the Pediatrician at the earliest possible.
The danger signs are
1. Poor feeding
2. Vomiting
3. Loss of consciousness
4. Seizures
Your baby has a danger sign that is poor feeding. So request you to take him to the pediatrician at the earliest possible.
Continue to ask further queries.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
