11 Year Old Getting Treated For Pan Arthritis Nodosa. Elevated SGOT And SGPT Levels. What Diet To Be Followed?

My son just came home from the hospital, he has been treated for poly arteritis nodosa....this is his third time being treated for PAN since 2009. However his SGOT and SGPT results are way above normal. He was admitted last August 13. His SGOT-AST result is 73.78, SGPT- ALT is 135.36. Before he was discharged his SGOT-AST is 257.57, SGPT-ALT is 462.95.....It s very high...way above the normal range.......what should I give him or what foods should he take to decrease the levels of SGOT and SGPT? He is only 11 years old....I hope you can enlighten me regarding this topic...Thank you very much!

Hello
Thanks for posting your query
Your child is suffering from anicteric hepatitis, associated with PAN. Elevated hepatic enzymes in PAN is common with Hepatitis B infection. So I would suggest you to consult your doctor to know the Hepatitis B status of your child. Regarding dietary advice avoid saturated fats, meat, hot sauces, spicy foods, fried foods, fatty foods, rich foods, salty foods, cow’s milk and other dairy products, white bread, refined foods, processed foods, meat, ice cream, cola, un-purified water, chocolate, coffee, sugar and sweets etc. You can give him Brown rice, whole wheat bread, steamed green vegetables, fresh vegetable juices, squashes, whole grains, legumes and soups with ginger and mung beans, fish, organic chicken, plenty of fresh water; add juice of half a lemon to a quart of distilled water( to avoid minerals),fresh fruit in season, one to three pieces a day, depending on season and climate. All these measures will protect and decreases burden over the liver.
I hope this answers your query effectively.
