My 11 year old daughter has been complaining of burning and severe pains in her lower stomach area down to her upper thighs along with cramping for 5 days, I had her in to see a NP, because our regular doctor is on vacation, she said it could be constipation, change her diet, we did that and he pain is still severe, what should I do
hello.Burning and severe pain in lower part of stomach may be either due to some intestinal or urinary problem. If it is associated with constipation as it appears to be it will be relieved with some laxatives, moreover for severe crampy pain may take some antispasmodic agent. However it is advisable to get examine by a Gastroenterologist and may be evaluated in form of X-ray abdomen and Ultrasound abdomen. However if it is associated with burning micturition or urinary hesitancy or fever or pain also radites to back suggest that it may be related to urinary problem like stone in urinary tract for which urine complete examination along with ultrasound abdomen for kidney, ureter and urinary bladder is required. And for this you may take plenty of fluids, along with some antispasmodic. i hope you will be benefitted from my advise. Remain in touch. Get well soon.
