14 Year Old, Headache, Blocked Nose, Tiredness. Taking Antibiotics. Have Extradural Abscess. Should I Meet Doctor?
hello, my daughter is 14 and been experiencing headaches which are gradually getting worse. They seem to be above the eye area. She has no runny or blocked nose. She feels tired a lot. The doc has put her on a course of antibiotics for a sinus infection. Tonight I have noticed slight swelling/puffiness around her eyes and cheeks. She dosnt have a temp and is not off eating. I am concerned as she has had an extradural abcess as a result of a bone infection caused by bacteria in her sinus 10yrs ago. Im not sure if I should go to the hospital and have her examined
Hello Headache and swelling can be due to sinusitis. In case of brain abscess, patient usually experience high grade fever, headache may be vomiting and visual disturbances. Now a days brain abscess in uncommon due to early detection of infection and proper antibiotic coverage, but you must consult your doctor for proper examination in investigation to rule out evolving abscess as she had past history of same. Regards
