15 Month Baby Having Loss Of Appetite And Vomiting. Is This A Serious Problem?

My 15 month baby has poor appetite. Sometimes when we try to feed him, he will vomit. He seems to use vomiting as a strategy to avoid eating. But he seems to eat just fine at his daycare. He is thin, with 20 percentile weight and below 10 percentile bmi. He seems fine besides poor eating. Is the vomiting a serious problem?

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
It is general and more precise to say that common complain form parents that the child is not eating properly I even come across with such complaints during my practice, I always advise to the parents that the stomach volume of child is little low and the child is eating accordingly but if you try to feed the child on and often then it is just likely that the child will refuse to eat, that does not mean that your child is not eating, burping is a such act that parents think that it is vomiting but actually it is not the case, so do not be so conscious for this, only thing parents need to look is whether the child is playful or not excessive crying fever does not play at all these symptoms are matters, hope this will help you have nice day.

Anesthesiologist Dr. Girija Kumari's  Response
As long as the growth is in normal range the vommiting is not a issue. But if poor growth he needs paediatrician advice. Where he see the possibility of gastroenteritis or rule out upper gi problem or any associated problems.
