16 Month Son, Red Itchy Bumps, Spreading, Fever. Treatment?

I have a 16 month old son, he has recently broke out in red itchy bumps. there are also two medium sized patches one on the back of his leg, and the other on the back of his upper thigh on the other leg. it has spread to his face since yesterday. we haven't changed any soaps or detergents, perfumes, lotions. we haven't introduced him to any new foods. and he was also running a fever of 100 today at daycare. any answers to what it might be? what can I do to ease the itching?

Pediatrician 's  Response
greetings,

i can understand your concern.
see what you are talking about are the exanthems of the viral infection.
they have varied presentation.
normally they are self limiting.
but a more detailed clinical examination is required for exact diagnosis.
hope this helps.

Pediatrician Dr. Synthyia Bhagat's  Response
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Your child is having fever with rash which is mostly viral in nature and settles in few days, but physical examination is required for a proper diagnosis.
I suggest you to get him examined by pediatrician.
In the meantime give acetaminoplen for fever 15 mg/kg
Apply calamine lotion over affected area 2 to 3 times a day.
Antihistaminic like benadryl can be given in prescribed dosage.

Hope this helps.
Wishing your child good health.
God bless..
