17 Month Old Kid Started Running Fever. What Could Be Causing Of His Fever ?
My 17 month old son injured his knee 7 days ago, a day later started running fever. Knee still bothersome and still running fever. Has had blood, urine samples come back clear, xrays are fine, ears, chest ok, they extracted fluid from the knee to test Thursday, so far no bacteria to indicate septic joint. What could be causing fever ? Very concerned.

Thanks for query,
It is possible that infection took place in the joint due to remaining blood in the joint.
Go for antibiotic course after asking to the doctor,
Give rest to the joint.

Inflammation anywhere in the body itself can give rise to fever.
An injured joint is inflamed and needs rest and time to heal.
It's good that you have ruled out infection because it would delay healing.
Sometimes anti-inflammatory analgesics taken as per your doctors advice may help in such condition

it can still be a joint infection. need not always get something positive from the investigations. has to be diagnosed clinically. need to give good cover of antibiotics for him else can cause great damage to the joint.

Your answer is hiding in your question as you indicate the Septic joint.Any infection can cause fever and in this case the cause of fever is the joint infection(septic=sepsis=infection) .the treatment should be done according to the culture report of joint fluid.
