Hello,
I noticed rock hard, large, palpable, seemingly non-tender occipital nodes on my 2 month old son. He has never been ill, has not had any infections, and has never had cradle cap. I'm an ICU nurse so I'm familiar with s/s of lymph nodes that should be further examined. His nodes have enlarged in the past weeks which has caused me concern. He also has a very large appetite: he is a twin and he eats twice as much as his sister- breast feeds and will take 5-8 oz in one feeding.... demanding to be fed. I brought it to our pediatrician's attention during the 2 month check up today however, he explained how the lymph system worked (which I already knew) and stated it is usually present with cradle cap.... and since your son doesn't have cc, its probably due to dry skin. I would estimate the size of the nodes as larger than a pea (probably about 1 and a half peas in size).
Is there cause for concern (Cancer) or does this sound normal?
Thank you in advance for any help or advice.
Sincerely,
Worried mom
