27 Year Old Having Pain On The Ribs, Back Hip And Leg On The Left Side. Diagnosed With Low Vitamin B12 Levels. On Mecobalamin Injections. Taking Metformin For Insulin Insensitivity
Hello Dr. Siegel, I am a 27 year old girl. For the past one month, I have been experiencing severe pain in the left side of my body - ribs, back, hip and leg. I was diagnosed with low Vitamin B12 levels - 164pg/mL. My doctor has put me on a course of Mecobalamin injections and has advised Mecovon tablet - 1 daily. After taking the injections, the pain in the back and ribs has gone, but i am experiencing extreme pain in my left hip that shoots down the leg. I hobble around the place and the pain subsides after taking Buta - Proxyvon. I am on Metformin for Insulin Insensitivity. I want to ask - how to cope with the constant pain? as I feel that I am taking too many medicines.
I understand that you are having a lot of conditions that may be contributing to your pain issues. You have a vitamin B12 deficiency that is being adequately treated. You can never have enough of that medication. Multivitamin supplements may also be helpful and are available over the counter. Consulting a neurologist for the pain that you are experiencing may also be of help. You need to see a psychiatry for the anxiety issues surrounding your medical problems. I hope this helps.
Take care and have a lovely day!
