4 Month Baby, White Patches On Torso, Spreading, Pale Patches On Thigh. Is This Vitiligo?

Hello
My 4 month old child has developed white patches on her torso that seems to be spreading quite rapidly all over her torso. On the front only at this stage. She has two small pale white patches on her lower but they have remained the same size. She also seems to have developed pale patches on her thighs. These don't appear to be spreading either.
Could this be vitiligo? We have no family history of vitiligo.

Hi,

The Hypopigmented patch you are describing could be because of many reasons like fungal infection like Pityriasis Alba ,Tenia Versicolor etc Even congenital skin disorders could present like a patch. All of these could mimic vitiligo.

I would suggest that you get the child examined by a dermatologist so that the diagnosis could be clear and treatment could be initiated appropriately.

Bye
Take care.
