4 Month Old With Fever And Chest Congestion. Not Responding To Meftal Syrup. Any Suggestions?
Hello doctor, My daughter is 4 months and 3 weeks, have weight 6.6kg(approx) she is suffering from Fever and chest congestion from last 3 days. I am giving her Meftal syrup 1.5ml every six hrs. As I give her medicine she is fine within 30 mins and actively play for 4.5 hrs. But after that she is again in the same condition of fever Please suggest me Thank You Regards Rachana
For fever safest medicine is Paracetamol, given in a dose of 15mg/kg/dose, repeated every 6 hrs.
Measure the temperature every 6 hours and note it down. It is significant only if temperature is more than 100'F.
You may also do tepid sponging with tap water if there is no shivering.
Hope you have seen your Pediatrician and have got her examined.
If chest signs are present, your doctor will give you some more medicines too.
Hope my answer helps you.
Wish a speedy recovery for your kid.
