4 Year Old, Hard Lump On Base Of Skull, Not Having Any Symptoms. Any Ideas?

I just found a hard bony lump at the base of my four year old daughters skull. She said it doesn't hurt and she hasn't hit her head. The lump is about the size of a dime in diameter and raised up from her skull at least a quarter of an inch. She's not showing any symptoms of an illness so I don't think it's her lymph nodes. No changes in behavior.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Since you didn't mentioned the duration of this lump so very difficult to evaluate any diagnosis but may be as,
1 Osteoma ( a benign growth) , diagnosis can be confirmed by physical examination by a neurologist .
2 Bony growth due congenital defect or normal structure of bone .
3 Tumor , diagnosis can be confirmed by C T SCAN ( least chance )
4 May be ingrown hairs growth i.e. infection .
So first of all consult a neurologist and get his opinion.
Good luck for little child. Dr. het
