4 Year Old Having Pain. Hip X-ray Report Normal. Elevated WBC Levels. Giving Motrin. What Is Going On?

My 4 year old daughter woke up in pain on Friday and wouldn t walk we took her to the er and the x-rayed her hips found nothing so they sent her home with Motrin now it s Sunday and she has developed a fever what could be going on? The er ran labs on Friday found all CBC and inflammation with in normal range except her white blood cell a bit elevated but nothing to be alarmed about. I took her back today and they just said to continue giving her the Motrin without running new labs.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic,
Difficulty on walking with pain followed by fever and on CBP elevated WBC may be because of some bacterial infection like septic arthritis or a urinary tract infection with a reactive arthritis may be a possibility.
I advise you to continue the medication as prescribed by your doctor and be in regular follow up to find the progression of the problem and appropriate intervention whenever required.
Hope I have answered your query.
