5 Month Old With Fever. Cefixime Prescribed. Does The Baby Have Urinary Infection?
Hello Doctor,
My daughter (5 month old) had fever since yesterday. Our doctor asked to get urine test done. Test has come as normal except pus cell which are 3-5 hpf and epithelial cells are 1-2. Doctor also prescribed cefixime. I can only meet the doctor tomorrow. does my baby have urine infection and should i give cefixime today itself.

The urine examination looks normal.
Is child having any cold or cough?
Is child crying while passing urine?
Continue the medication as advised by your Pediatrician and if you don't see a response in child, consult again your Pediatrician for follow up.

3-5 pus cells in the urine per hpf is normal report. You need not worry regarding that part of it.
Does your baby cry while passing urine?
What are the other associated complaints she is having.
Is there cough or cold?
