5 Year Old With Headaches. Anything Serious? Any Tests To Be Done?

My 5 year old has been having headaches and complaining of a tummy ache on and off since Monday. Sometimes both at the same time, and sometimes one or the other. She has not had fever, but it is definitely making her feel bad as she has been sleeping (napping) when she is usually playing. Motrin makes her headache pain go away and she will feel better for a little while. But, I am concerned that something serious may be going on. What type of of issues could be going on? What type of tests would be run to start with?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Does child have any cold?

Which part of his head is aching?

Is there any diurnal variation in headache?

Is there any family history of migraine?

Physical examination is needed to know the causes of headache and pain abdomen.

If required investigations may be ordered like CT Scan head and ultrasound abdomen depending on the clinical findings on physical examination.

Therefore consult the pediatrician for physical examination and for further management.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
