5 Year Old With Swollen Penis After Swimming. Tried Cortisone Cream. Any Other Medication?

My 5 year old sons penis became itchy and swollen & red after swimming for many hr's yesterday. He woke up with severe swelling. We showered him and put Cortizone on it just 1/2 hr ago.Letting air get there (nude) Its looking a bit better and he says it feels better. Is there some other cream/ointment his doc might prescribe if i made an spot or should i wait to see if Cortisone 10 heals alone?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Dear user,

I think the cortisone alone might be enough if you have seen a positive difference with just one application. It appears that he was either bitten by a bug, or developed allergy to something that he might have touched while he was swimming such as an underwater plant or a fish or something. (I am presuming he swam in a natural tank or pond).
