5 Yr Old Has Deviated Uvula To The Left, Says 'ahh' It Pulls Even More To The Left. Any Ideas ?

Hi, I m a Speech Pathologist and I was performing an Oral Mech exam on a 5 year old boy. I noticed he has a deviated uvula to the left and began to research. He does not have any other symptoms of a cranial nerve problem as far as I can tell. When he says ahh it pulls even more to the left. Is there anything else we need to be concerned with this case?

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

It could be a normal variant / occasionally nerve palsy (IX)
To be sure, the boy must be examined by a neurologist for further assessment and assistance.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
