6 Month Old Baby, Prescribed Ascazin Syrup, Nausea, Pain. Should Medication Be Continued?

Hi Doctor, My pediatrician prescribed to give Ascazin Syrup for my 6 months old baby. But whenever he drinks it, he feels very uneasy and cries very badly..he will not cry that badly when I give him other medicines. It is happening only when I give him Ascaziin syrup. Could you suggest me, shall I continue with it or not?

Hello,
Welcome to HCM .
Ascazinc syp contains zinc sulphate which is usually prescribed in diarrhoea or respiratory illnesses for faster recovery.
However it might cause abdominal discomfort as a sideffect . Also for a 6 month baby the dose might need adjustment as per weight of the baby ( usually 20 mg / day in two to three divided doses.
Talk to your pediatrician for dose adjustment or an alternative formulation like zinconia , Z&D etc.
Do not stop any drug without consulting your doctor .
Wishing your baby good health.
Regards
