6 Weeks Pregnant, Light Vaginal Bleeding. Ultrasound Scan Shows Gestational Sac, No Fetal Pole. What Does This Mean?

Hi Doctor I am less than 6 weeks pregnant, the last couple of days I have started to have light bleeding . I had an early scan today which showed Gestation Sac present, sac site normal and shape regular. The sac diameter is 5.0 4.0 3.0 mm and the fetal pole not seen. The pregnancy test was positive. I will be having another scan in 10 days time. What does this mean?

Hi Gul,
Thanks for your question.
This means either an early pregnancy or a failing pregnancy. You have to wait for a repeat ultrasound to get a confirm report.
Otherwise you may go for a blood pregnancy test & repeat it in 48 hours to get an early answer.
Hope this clears your query.
Best of luck.
