7 Year Kid, Vomiting, Breathing Faster. What Could Be This?
Hi. My daughter is 7 y/o and was vominting last night n this am. No fever but she seems to be breathing faster than normal. I did check her heartrate and it is 126bpm. Is this normal? of course other children in her class have been vomiting so im assuming its the stomach virus. trying to c if this increases your heartrate

No that is not normal. The normal pulse rate of a 7 year old is some where between 90 to 110. So your kid is having tachycardia.
Fever could be a cause of increased heart rate but you are mentioning that there is no fever.
Tachycardia could be a feature of compensated shock because of loss of fluid from the body.
Is your daughter accepting orally now or vomiting every thing she has?
You are also mentioning that she is breathing fast. So I request you to consult your doctor for further examination and management.

Hi dear,
Heart rate can be increased at the time of vomiting. So try taking her heart rate after atleast one hour after vomiting. If still it is this high along with fast breathing, then probably she is dehydrated. Give her good amounts of fluids, juices, tender coconut water. If vomiting is preventing her to take anything, then she needs to be taken to doctor. He might prescribe anti emetics or start fluid drips depending on her hydration status. So its necessary to show her to a doctor to assess her hydration status and plan accordingly.
