76 Years. Have Diverticulitis, GERD With Severe Reflux, Heartburn, Burning In Throat. Have Diabetes. Advice

I am a 76 year old woman with (well-controlled) type II diabetes, currently suffering from diverticulitis. Presently, I am experiencing GERD with severe reflux, causing not only heartburn, but an intense unpleasant burning in the throat and mouth. I have a scheduled appointment with my doctor in one week. Is there anything I can do now to combat these symptoms, or any other advice? Mary
