My doctor told me that she wants that labour pain should not happen before 15 january-2012. I am very much confused why my doctor given me medicine to stop the labour pain in the first week of 9th month. please solve my problem .
Hello
Thanks for your query.
Completion of 8 months means that you have completed 32 weeks.
The baby does not attain complete lung maturity until at least 37 weeks of pregnancy
And survival of babies born before 34 weeks is very poor due to complications of prematurity such as lung malfunction, low birth weight, respiratory trouble, infections etc.
Hence, it is not at all desirable to have a baby born before atleast 37 weeks, ideally the later the better.
Term is considered as 40 weeks.
Hence, your doctor is absolutely right in trying to prescribe medications to prevent preterm labour pains.
take care.
