8 Year Daughter, Discoloration Above Lip, Reddish In Color. What Could Be This?

Hello, my 8 year old daughter sometimes has a discolouration above her lip which looks like she had a moustache. It is reddish in colour, but it is not always there. She got it today after she was crying for a while, but I am not sure this is cause as at other times it just appears. It is almost like the skin is sore from over wiping a runny nose, but it is not raw. She is blond and fair skinned, so it looked very odd and prominent. Any thoughts?

The description that you provide suggests that there is nothing to worry about. Being a fair skinned girl it is not unusal to notice even the slightest change in colour. The reddness may be accentuated because of increased capillaries in the area.
